Limited Edition Commemorative Encaustic Tiles

Edition of 5

Did you know it’s common to give the gift of porcelain on your 20th anniversary? We were honoured to be commissioned to mark this very special milestone; commemorating a couple who first said “I do” against the majestic backdrop of Edinburgh Castle as fireworks lit the sky two decades ago. This bespoke encaustic tile captures not only their enduring love but also the spirit of Edinburgh and Scottish heritage.

Inspired by the Traditional Scottish Blessing : "Lang may yer lum reek!" — "Long may your chimney smoke!"

A heartfelt phrase passed down through generations. In days gone by, a chimney sending smoke skyward was a sign of warmth, health, prosperity and happiness. This blessing has endured as a toast during Hogmanay as fireworks explode over Auld Reekie.

Tile Features:

  • Handcrafted by traditional maker and artist Craig Peebles in Edinburgh, Scotland

  • Made using traditional encaustic techniques and inlaid ceramics, ensuring each tile is a unique work of art

  • Limited edition design, celebrating Edinburgh and Scottish heritage

  • Vibrant colours and playful patterns bring life and warmth to your home

  • Highly sustainable materials and traditional craftsmanship for a tile as kind to the planet as it is to your eyes

  • Size and shape perfectly suited for display or architectural installation – from fireplace surrounds to accent walls

Please Note: All of our encaustic tiles are handmade using traditional techniques. This means you may see subtle variations in colour, texture, and pattern, along with small irregularities that reflect the maker’s hand. These are not defects, but natural characteristics of the craft; each tile is unique, with its own character and individuality. No two pieces will ever be exactly the same and this is part of what makes handcrafted encaustic tiles so special.
