KISS - Magnet Backed
KISS
Pop Art Encaustic - Magnet Backed
Old Craft. New Rules.
This is a kiss. A deliciously tactile entry-level piece in the shape of stylised lips, made using traditional methods normally reserved for architectural tiles. Colour is held within the clay body itself, not painted on top. It’s pressed, inlaid and fired to last.
This piece invites touch
People instinctively lift it to their faces and try it on.
Just like we did…
The colour of sustainability
This piece is made from reclaimed clay and slips, mixed together and reused rather than discarded. We call it the colour of sustainability (only half-joking). It’s what happens when nothing is thrown away.
The lips are finished with a bold encaustic inlay, set deep into the surface.
What this piece stands for
It’s a functional object made with the same thinking as my larger encaustic work.
It stands against throwaway gestures.
Why it’s magnet backed
Because it belongs where life happens.
On your fridge.
Your notice board.
Your Oven.
Somewhere you’ll pass every day.
It’s asking to be used.
Why we made this
We wanted to make something intimate without being sentimental.
A piece that carries humour, touch, and warmth while still holding the values of encaustic craft: longevity, material honesty, and intelligence.
Details
Process: Handmade encaustic ceramic magnet
Materials: Reclaimed & recycled clay with encaustic inlay
Made in: Edinburgh, Scotland
Finish: Unglazed, fired porcelain clay body
Fixing: Discreet magnet set to the reverse
Variations: Each piece is unique by design
One final thing
This kiss won’t fade
It’s made to outlast the moment
and maybe make you smile every time you pass it.
It’s made for you 🫵
